Therapy

I have worked in the mental health field for over 27 years, with individuals and families of all ages. My professional training includes Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology and Counseling and a PhD in Health Psychology. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and hold state and national certifications in mental health and substance abuse.

I believe in a holistic approach to counseling, respecting the individuality and complexity of all human beings. I view my role as collaborative and assist clients in meeting their stated goals. My work is grounded in systemic theory and evidence-based behavioral medicine, acknowledging the unity of body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Informed by mindfulness-based therapies, I teach skills that increase awareness, calm, and joy in clients' lives. I offer skills-training, addiction treatment, and mental health and abuse/trauma therapy.

I provide diagnosis and assessment, offer treatment plans for presenting problems, refer to primary care providers and psychiatric providers for medication evaluation, monitor medications, collaborate with referring agencies when releases are in place, provide consultation regarding family matters in the case of custody or other legal processes, and provide couple and family therapy, as requested by the primary client. No disclosures are ever made regarding the client's therapy without express permission of the client, except in certain stipulated situations (see Confidentiality Practices). In providing trauma therapy services, I offer a variety of modalities for addressing trauma experiences, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), Internal Family Systems (IFS), direct processing of the trauma, and somatic expression of the trauma.
